Viagra is used as an effective treatment for impotence, known as erectile dysfunction. (ED) in medical circles.

How does the component work?

As mentioned above Sildenafil is used as a treatment for impotence.

Impotence can have different causes. Whereas after the age of 50 physical illnesses often cause a fall in the ability to achieve an erection, there are also numerous cases where the mind plays an important role. It may be assumed that in about 20% of all cases mental stress is the trigger for ED. This is often the case particularly in the age group up to 35. In order to help those afflicted, all factors coming under consideration are included during diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

Erection of the penis can only occur if a rapid flow of blood to the penis is possible. However, this can only occur if the arteries expand so that the surrounding muscles can relax.

The messenger substance nitrogen monoxide (NO) is released by sexual stimulation. This, in its turn, activates a second messenger substance, cGMP. It is only through these two messenger substances that the muscle cells in the corpus cavernosum can relax and blood flow into the penis. Erection occurs. At the end of the erection the cGMP is slowly reduced with the aid of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 5, also known as (PDE-5).

The active principle Sildenafil is a PDE 5 inhibitor which blocks the enzyme phosphodiesterase 5 so that more cGMP can remain in circulation. The erection is improved by the relaxation of the muscles which is achieved.


Original Viagra or Sildenafil Citrate should be taken one hour before having intercourse. Its effect lasts about 5 hours. Take care not to exceed the daily maximum dose of one tablet.


Caution:
Taking the drug may reduce vision which will reduce your ability to react. This can manifest itself particularly when driving and operating machinery. Driving and operating machinery can therefore be influenced, above all if the drug is taken at the same time as alcohol.

When is the medication not suitable for you?

• In case of a (inherited) retina where the functions and structures of cells deteriorate.
• In the case of simultaneous treatment with other sexual enhancers
• in the case of low blood pressure (hypotony)
• patients who suffer from continuous erections (priapism)
• patients who have an anatomically deformed penis
• in the case of heart and cardiovascular illnesses
• in the case of serious liver disease

In which cases should the enhancer not to be taken?

• by children and teenagers under 18
• in the event of a continuous erection – see a doctor immediately to avoid tissue problems and the loss of sexual performance
• in the case of stomach and intestinal ulcers

Which side-effects can occur?

• Long-lasting, painful erections needing treatment (priapism) (seldom)

Which interactions can occur?

If drugs containing nitrates or NO-donors (drugs against cardiovascular disease) are being taken, their effect can be seriously increased. As a result, the blood pressure could fall sharply and you could collapse. If you are taking these drugs you should not take this potency enhancer.
